From the Artist's Viewpoint
FAA at Tall Grass Gallery
March 8 - April 12, 2025
Call for Art
Tall Grass Arts Association Gallery of Park Forest invites member artists of the Frankfort Arts Association to submit entries for an invitational exhibit.

Deadline for Entries: December 15, 2024
Please read the guidelines and rules carefully before submitting your entry. Tall Grass does things differently than FAA.

Reveal the personal lens through which you create. “From the Artist’s Viewpoint” invites artists to submit works that distinctly reflect their own experiences and influences. Whether through a single technique, color palette, or subject matter, we’re seeking pieces that communicate an individual perspective and style. Show us the world as you see it, distilled into a work of art.

Here are some examples of artworks that artists might submit for "From the Artist's Viewpoint":
-
Cityscape Through a Personal Lens
An artist might paint a bustling city scene from an unusual angle or during a specific time of day, focusing on details that capture their own experience of that place—like the glow of neon lights in the evening or the quietness of dawn. -
Portraits with Personal Symbolism
A portrait could go beyond physical likeness to incorporate symbols or colors that reflect the personality or story of the subject as the artist perceives them—perhaps capturing emotions or memories tied to that individual. -
Nature and Landscape with a Twist
An artist might paint a natural landscape or local scene but use a distinctive color palette or brush technique to convey their mood or emotional connection to the place—like a forest scene with exaggerated greens and blues to emphasize calm and wonder. -
Abstract Reflections of Inner Life
Some artists could opt for abstract pieces that use colors, forms, and textures to express specific emotions or inner experiences. For instance, a series of swirling lines and deep colors might reflect a moment of personal change or growth. -
Still Life with Personal Significance
An artist could paint a still life of objects with personal meaning—a collection of family heirlooms, objects from a beloved hobby, or items found on travels. The arrangement, color, and lighting could convey the artist's connection to these items. -
Homage to Influential Artists or Art Movements
Some artists might be inspired by a favorite artist or movement, reinterpreting that influence in their style. For example, a surreal piece inspired by Dali or a pop art take on a personal subject could reflect the artist's viewpoint while paying tribute to their inspiration.
These are just examples. Use your unique approach, and chosen subject to reveal your artistic perspective.
