Micro/Macro

Open Call, Juried Exhibit

April 17 - June 1, 2025

Deadline for Entries: April 7, 2025

14 Hickory Street Unit 14B

Frankfort, IL 60423

Explore the intersection of scale in 'Micro/Macro,' where the smallest details and the grandest scenes collide. This exhibit invites artists to examine how tiny, often overlooked elements connect to larger realities, creating a dialogue between the minute and the monumental. Whether zooming in on intricate textures or capturing sweeping vistas, we encourage works that highlight the relationship between the micro and macro worlds.

Here are some examples of artworks that artists might submit for this exhibit:

  • Close-Up of an Insect Wing – A detailed painting of an insect’s wing, emphasizing its beauty and structure.

  • Expansive Landscape from Above – A sweeping aerial view of a landscape, like fields or mountains, showing vastness.

  • Abstract Texture and Pattern – An abstract work focused on magnified textures, like skin or fabric, blending into larger forms.

  • Dual Image of a Flower – A single flower shown in both close-up detail and in a larger bouquet, showing its role in a broader scene.

  • Planetary Surface – A large painting resembling a close-up of a natural texture, like rock or bark, which could be mistaken for a planet’s surface.
