JUNE 5 - JULY 27, 2025

Mapping Our Lives Call.png

Call for Art

FAA member artists (with Artist-level paid membership) are invited to submit entries for an exhibit at our gallery in downtown Frankfort inside Studio C.

14 Hickory Street #14B

Frankfort, IL 60423

Chart the journey of life through art in 'Mapping Our Lives.' This exhibit invites artists to explore themes of movement, travel, and exploration—whether physical, emotional, or spiritual. From the paths we tread to the places that shape us, we welcome works that trace the routes of human experience.

Here are some examples of artworks that artists might submit for this exhibit, but as always, think about how the theme might work with your work. The themes of members' exhibits are meant to inspire and challenge, but not to exclude.

  1. Personal Map of a Hometown – An artistic map that highlights places of personal significance in the artist’s life.

  2. Winding Road in Nature – A painting of a scenic path, symbolizing life's journey or a specific experience.

  3. Abstract Map of Memories – A non-literal, abstract piece where colors and shapes represent different life phases or emotions.

  4. Cultural Travel Collage – A mixed-media piece combining artifacts or symbols from different places the artist has visited.

  5. Migration of Birds or Animals – A piece showing animal migration, exploring the themes of movement and connection.

GUIDELINES:

  • FAA member artists may submit one original work to be included in the show.

  • Most subjects, styles, and techniques will be accepted, from realistic to abstract.

  • Submitted works can be in any medium, 2D or 3D, except for video.

  • Hanging works must be no larger than 40" x 40" without prior permission.

  • Non-hanging 3D works may be any size provided they fit well in the gallery, either free-standing or on a pedestal.

  • Unless you hear otherwise, consider your entry accepted for the members' show.

RULES:

  • The exhibit is open to active FAA Member Artists.

 By May 27, 2025:

  • To participate in this exhibit, member artists must complete the online entry form below and upload a photo of their artwork.

  • The image will be used on the FAA website where buyers can purchase your artwork. If the piece is Not for Sale, the photo may still be on the website but marked as unavailable.

  • 2-dimensional work must be properly wired and ready to hang; no sawtooth hangers. Wires should not show above the work when hung. Work should be framed unless done on gallery-wrapped canvas (at least 1.5" thick). Wrapped edges must be finished. Fiber art is accepted but please provide a way to hang it on our system which uses hooks.

  • Attach a label to the back of your work (or bottom on 3D art) with your name and the piece's title.

  • Curators reserve the right to refuse work that does not meet the requirements or is considered too fragile for the exhibit.

  • All work remains on exhibit for the duration of the show. If purchased, the piece will remain in place until the show has ended, and arrangements will be made with the purchaser for pick-up.

  • Unless requested otherwise by the artist, permission is given to the FAA to use any images of exhibited work for publicity or educational purposes.

FEES AND COMMISSION:

  • There is a nonrefundable $15 fee to participate. After submitting your entry, make your payment.

  • FAA retains 30% of the sale price of each work sold during the exhibit.
